Nonprofit organization JAPSAM in January 2006 supported the establishment of Nagoya University School of Medicine's Bio-Robotics Research Council for research and development of state-of-the-art technology and for community education purposes.

Knowledge and vision from various fields are necessary in order to construct a state-of-the-art healthcare system. For these reasons, on July 2006, we inaugurated the Advanced Medicine Network Seminar to provide a forum for exchanging and sharing of ideas. The seminars, by providing a forum for our members to communicate and exchange ideas, will serve as the foundation for the establishment of: (1) the state-of-the-art healthcare system; (2) and the International Center for State-of-the-Art in Medicine. We welcome your participation in our seminars.

Focused on biotechnology and robotics, the International Center for State-of-the-Art in Medicine will seek to promote a strong industry-academia-government collaboration in order to support research and development of the advanced healthcare system. One of our projects will be to use robotics technology not only for diagnoses and surgeries but also for lab testings, nursing, and hospice care. This will be an experiment to see if we can cut costs and risks while at the same time providing the highest quality healthcare to patients.
